![]() ![]() The app allows gamers to stream their Steam library to their iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. The Steam Link app is now available for free for all iOS and Apple TV users! It's not quite cloud-streamed gaming, but anyone with a Steam account full of games, a decent connection and any of those devices suddenly has a lot more options for how they're going to play. The app will automatically look for computers on the network, and after a few seconds, your host PC should show up. Before you open the app, make sure your Apple TV and host PC are on the same network. When Steam Link launched you needed another PC or dedicated hardware, but apps for iOS, Android and even Raspberry Pi are making it much more widely available. Once you have connected your controller, visit the Apple TV App Store and install Steam Link. As long as the connection is good enough, it will work. This is the first time Appleās streaming network has been available on DirecTV Stream, a multipurpose device for subscribers that supports live TV, streaming apps, on-demand content and DVR. Valve has also renamed "In-Home Streaming" as simply Remote Play in the latest beta Steam release, so that it's the same whether you're using it at home or beta testing it from further away. ![]() Apple had blocked its release last year, but evidently that has been worked out - likely because you can't purchase games with it anymore - and you can grab it from the App Store now. The Steam Link network test runs and it shows over 100mbps on Wi-Fi ( I have gig fiber). With the Steam Link app installed on the Apple TV, it detected my PC running Steam (while using a wired Ethernet connection) in the other room, then gave me a code to enter into that. (i have also tried my iphone and Nvidia shield tube). I am attempting to use Steam Link on my AppleTV 4K, 30ft away. You can even play them on your TV easily via the Apple TV, streamed right from your PC. Host Steam Computer is hooked directly to a google Nest Wi-Fi router. ![]() PC gaming is ready to meet iOS, now that Valve's Steam Link app is available for Apple's devices. The Link offers practically lag-free gaming in crisp 1080p, 60 fps, and is reliable enough to play Twitch-tastic games like Nidhogg, Duck Game, and Speedrunners, not to mention competitive. ![]()
